Israel Beer Festival This Friday

Print Friendly and PDF

Good news for beer lovers currently in Israel.

This Friday March 9 (AKA Shushan Purim), the Matte Yehuda Regional Council is holding its annual Boutique Brewery Festival in Moshav Tzafririm from 10:00am-5:00pm. In the hearty atmosphere of Purim, 11 local boutique breweries will be offering their home grown Eretz Yisrael beers in numerous creative flavors.

The Land of Israel blossoms with its own beer

After Israel saw a surge of boutique wineries in the last 15 years, breweries are the new, cutting-edge industry on the rise.

As a general rule, light-colored beers around the world are kosher and do not require kashrut supervision, but dark beers do - so ask before going dark.

Bring a wad of shekels because the beer tasting and guzzlin' gets costly, but it sure is a culinary delight and a lot of fun. Many of the beer-masters are on site and enjoy telling the stories of their quest for good, Jew Beer.

During the day, there are hours with live music, and food stands are on site, though not all of them are kosher.

If you don't see me there, look for a guy laying under a table.

Jewish Activism Moment #2: Punish the Journalists

Print Friendly and PDF

Freedom of Press is a central value for the entire free world, and especially in the struggle of Israel's indigenous Jewish population to live with freedom and dignity in their ancient homeland - the State of Israel.

But did the journalists filming this video cross the lines to becoming accomplices in a hate crime?

In an important Opinion piece on Arutz Sheva, my colleague and friend Josh Hasten charges "yes," and calls upon the public in Israel and overseas to urge Israel's Minister of the Interior Eli Yishai (Shas party) to strip these journalists of their credentials and send them packing.
JEWISH ACTIVISM NOW

There is no doubt that if Eli Yishai gets a deluge of emails, faxes and phone calls on this topic, he will take action. Take one minute to contact Eli Yishai:
Telephone: +972-2-6408408
Fax: +972- 2-6662909
Email: eyishay@knesset.gov.il

Tell him: Freedom of the press - of course! But not at the expense of lives of Israeli innocents.

Jewish Activism Moment #1

Jewish rights are once again being denied, this time in Houston, Texas.

Huh? What's the connection?

That’s right, a religious Jewish high school basketball team is being booted from the Texas State Playoffs because the guys refuse to play on Friday night, the holy Jewish Shabbat - something which Jewish law forbids.
